Poetry Nights Majlis – Hall 8
This session aims to shed light on the life of the renowned folk poet, Bin Atiq Al-Hamli, by exploring the shared space between historical documentation and narrative storytelling in portraying his character and journey.
Participants will discuss how literature can reshape collective memory and use narrative as a tool to reread heritage figures in a way that goes beyond the traditional biography—toward constructing a comprehensive narrative that blends reality with imagination.
The session will also address the importance of documenting folk poetry as a cornerstone of cultural identity, and the role of narrative in highlighting the human and artistic dimensions of the poet’s life. It will raise questions about the relationship between historical truth and literary construction, and the boundaries of each in presenting a rich and multifaceted figure like Bin Atiq Al-Hamli.
